Green teas
Green tea is an ancient beverage made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, the same as black tea, but with a crucial difference: as soon as they are picked, the leaves are treated with heat to prevent oxidation, thus retaining their bright green color and a fresh, herbaceous aromatic profile.
Unlike herbal infusions and tisanes, green tea contains theine, but its combined action with theanine provides sustained energy without the anxiety spikes typical of coffee. It is a powerful natural antioxidant that combats cellular aging, supports heart health, and gently stimulates metabolism.
To prepare it best, pour hot but never boiling water over the leaves, letting them steep for a maximum of 2-3 minutes; exceeding this time or burning the leaves with 100°C water would release too many tannins, making the taste distinctly bitter and unpleasant.
